Prior to earning his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Stephen R. Harris received a B.B.A. and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin. His post-graduate training included a rotating flexible internship at Hospital of St. Raphael, New Haven, Connecticut and a residency with the Yale-New Haven Hospital's Department of Anesthesiology where he was also awarded a training fellowship to study cardiac anesthesia.

Dr. Harris is a member of the International Anesthesia Research Society and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He has served in the academic field as an instructor and associate for the Yale-New Haven Hospital's Department of Anesthesiology, as well as an Assistant Director of Medical Education for the Medical College of Ohio.
